TIES is a Program of

Engineering 100: Principles of Team Engineering
Wednesday and Friday
9:00 am - 9:50 am
Center Hall 222

This two-unit course aims to provide UCSD undergraduates with the principles of team-based skills and knowledge common to a broad range of professional careers. It also provides preparation as a co- or pre-requisite for the TIES (Teams in Engineering Services) Program.

The class is based on team learning. In the first class, teams of five students are formed. Each team will then decide on a feasibility technical design project for a nonprofit organization, which will be the basis of a mid-term review, final presentation, and final report. While there is a lecture component, each class also includes team discussion and brainstorming on featured topics, with team members reporting to the class. Class sessions therefore focus on participatory, interactive, and collective learning.
