Student Travel Support at PLDI 2007

There are two ways that students can receive travel support to attend PLDI 2007.  Both types of travel awards will be distributed through the SIGPLAN professional activities committee (PAC) awards system. The application form can be found at http://www.acm.org/sigs/sigplan/PAC.htm

In both of the cases below, the student is required to identify other means of support, to submit a budget, and to articulate the need for such funds.  In addition, both types of awards require that a representative from the students’ school submit an endorsement email (e.g. from their advisor or department chair) to PAC_grants@acm.org that confirms the need for support and the budget submitted.

  1. SIGPLAN PAC Award:  this award provides travel support for students who are presenting a paper or poster or are co-authors on a paper at PLDI (i.e. any SIGPLAN sponsored event associated with FCRC).  The maximum amount of support granted depends on the availability of SIGPLAN funds and funds available to the student from other sources.
  2. PLDI-IBM Award: If (1) above does not apply to you, but you wish to attend PLDI, IBM has generously donated $2500 to encourage students to attend PLDI.  We refer to these as PLDI-IBM travel grants.  These awards will not exceed $500.

Important: On the application, under "Professional Activity Description", please specify the type of award (SIGPLAN PAC or paper title and conference/workshop name for type 1; PLDI-IBM for type 2) to which you are applying.
